2018 Innovation and Development Forum on International Cultural Trade of CIFTIS Opens

As an important part of 2018 China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), the Innovation and Development Forum on International Cultural Trade opened on May 30 in China National Convention Center.

As an important part of 2018 China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), the Innovation and Development Forum on International Cultural Trade opened on May 30 in China National Convention Center. At the forum, experts and business representatives discussed the effective path for building a new framework for cultural trade in the context of “the capital's core functions” and provided suggestions on Chinese culture's going global. Within half a day, three activities of the forum inspired the guests, serving as a cultural feast to CIFTIS.

Ms. Yu Aijing, Deputy General Manager of BCI, was the first to deliver a speech at the forum. She noted that, our government had been paying great attention to international cultural trade in recent years, implementing the national development strategy of culture’s going global, putting “culture” first, and exerting itself to establish such five platforms as the investment and financing platform for the cultural and creative industries, the platform for building and operating cultural and creative functional areas, the platform for incubating and improving the cultural and creative industries, the platform for building the cultural factors market, and the state-owned platform for operating cultural capital. As an important investment and financing platform for the cultural and creative industries in Beijing, BCI has been focusing on development of the national cultural center, serving the big picture of the development of the cultural and creative industries, and making constant breakthroughs in easing Beijing's core functions, promoting coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, and driving investments from private capital.

Then Mr. Thomas VIAL, Commercial Counselor of France in China, spoke highly of China’s contribution to global cultural exchange. Ms. Olga ZINOVYEVA, Dean of Alexander Zinoviev Academy of Arts in Russia, then shared Russia's experience in promoting its culture and arts to go global. Prof. Wei Pengju, Dean of the College of Culture and Media at the Central University of Finance and Economics, delivered a speech titled Opportunities, Challenges and Response of Chinese Cultural Industries on the Belt and Road. Chen Shaoshu, President of Beijing Honav Group, gave a speech named the Olympics Games is a Great Opportunity for China's Cultural and Creative Industries to Go Global. Xie Jianjun, President of Dongdao Creative Branding Group, delivered a speech titled Speaking Chinese Innovations in a Global Way. Ms. Jiang Qiqi, CEO of ePaiLive.com, put forward a concept of “a new Silk Road” for international trade in artworks to be explored by art e-business in her speech. At the forum, Liu Wu, General Manager of BCI, introduced construction and development of the National Base for International Cultural Trade. 

During the Round-Table Dialogue on Practice and Exploration of Innovative Development of the Belt and Road Cultural Trade, the last part of the forum, domestic and foreign experts including Tian Wen (Vice Chairman of Beijing Association for Science and Technology), Ms. Olga ZINOVYEVA, Wang Libin (President of DCM), Zhao Yuan (Deputy Director of APEC Research Center for Cross-border E-commerce Innovation and Development), Wang Haiqing (President of Dalian Ruicheng Culture Development Co., Ltd.), and Chen Gang (Assistant to General Manager of BCI International Holding Co., Ltd.) conducted deep discussion on such topics as practice of cooperation on Chinese and foreign cultural trade, models for promoting cultural and creative innovations, cooperation on cultural media, information exchange and the building of cooperation platforms, sketching a practical blueprint for the innovative development of the Belt and Road cultural trade. The guests all expressed their wish for further enhancing innovative cooperation on cultural trade.

Through the forum, the National Base for International Cultural Trade Beijing further demonstrated its practical positioning and great planning and won wide support and attention from domestic and foreign cultural fields, proving its role as a cultural exhibition, exchange and trading platform which is based on Beijing, serving the whole country and aiming for the world in introducing foreign culture domestically and Chinese culture's going global.
